KAL RIEMAN is a growing business connected to our community, locally and globally. We rely on vendor partners around the world and service providers here in the heart of NYC’s Garment District. And they count on us, too, to make it through challenging times.
When the global pandemic hit, we reacted by looking for ways we could help.
We partnered with a small group of women in Brooklyn to make masks for essentials workers in our community. With KAL RIEMAN donating all the supplies, three amazing women sewed 100 masks per week from their homes. We delivered masks to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, among many places throughout the city.
We fostered cats from our favorite local animal welfare organization, For Animals, Inc. We delivered kennels and supplies around the city for others who were caring for sweet feline friends.
Most critically, we wanted to find a way to support our neighbors during this difficult time. As businesses closed their doors, many people were forced to rely on the emergency food network for the first time. The Food Bank for New York City became more essential than ever. We started donating 10% of all our online sales to serve meals to those in need.
At the start of our Food Bank drive, we set a goal of donating 10,000 for vulnerable New Yorkers during the crisis. Thanks to the generosity and loyalty of our customers, we’ve blown by that goal and have provided over 80,000 meals.
We are grateful for the opportunity to work with our fabric mills, garment factories, and retailers. We’re humbled by the continued support of our customers, amazing women. We’re not stopping any time soon.
“And though she be but little, she is fierce.”
